The 3M 7100099220 is the Fibre Disc 782C, a coated abrasive disc engineered for high-speed material removal on carbon steel. It uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain, an advanced abrasive mineral geometry that delivers faster cut rates and longer service life compared to conventional fibre discs. At 9.125 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor, the disc mounts on standard angle grinders and fits common disc pad face plates and hubs. The 80-grit rating makes it well-suited for aggressive stock removal while still leaving a workable surface. A stiff fibre backing and strong resin bond resist tearing under heavy load, reducing disc changes and downtime for production grinding operations.
This disc is designed for heavy-duty fabrication tasks on carbon steel, including weld removal, weld blending, beveling, edge chamfering, and surface finish refinement. It is a strong fit for structural steel fabrication shops, pipeline work, shipbuilding, and general metalworking environments where high removal rates and disc longevity are both priorities. The Precision Shaped Grain mineral excels under the sustained pressure typical of production grinding, outperforming standard alumina fibre discs in parts completed per disc. Compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs sold separately.
Compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs sold separately. Designed for use on carbon steel in fabrication, weld grinding, and finish blending applications.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with angle grinder safety practices. Verify that the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum rated speed before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc showing cracks, tears, or delamination. Always use the appropriate disc pad and hub assembly and ensure the arbor fastener is secure before powering the tool.
