The 3M 7100099032 is a 7-inch Quick Change Fibre Disc in the 782C series, engineered for high-speed material removal on carbon steel and heavy industrial applications. Built around 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology, the disc delivers significantly higher cut rates than conventional ceramic or aluminum oxide fiber discs. A stiff fiber backing combined with a strong resin bond system gives the disc the rigidity and tear resistance needed for aggressive operations like weld grinding, beveling, and edge chamfering. Maximum operating speed is 8,600 RPM. Grit is 60, placing it in the coarse range for rapid stock removal. Licensed tradespeople and metalworking professionals working in fabrication shops, structural steel, and maintenance environments are the primary users.
This disc is suited for weld removal, blending, and finish refinement on carbon steel workpieces. Its Precision Shaped Grain abrasive excels at heavyweight tasks including weld grinding, beveling, and edge chamfering where conventional fiber discs wear quickly and lose cut rate. The Quick Change attachment system simplifies disc swaps during production runs, reducing downtime. The 782C is compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs, which are sold separately.

Installation and disc changes should be performed by qualified personnel following applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive wheel safety standards. Confirm the grinder or angle grinder is rated at or above the disc maximum operating speed before mounting. Disconnect power and allow the tool to come to a full stop before changing discs. Inspect the disc for damage or delamination before each use and never exceed the rated 8,600 RPM.
