The 3M 7100098071 is a double-sided pressure-sensitive tape built on a non-woven tissue carrier with an acrylic adhesive system. It delivers a balance of high initial tack and reliable holding power across a broad temperature range. The tape ships on a 55-pound densified kraft paper liner that simplifies release and positioning during application. At 1.42 inches wide and 60.15 yards long per roll, it suits high-volume splicing and bonding operations in paper converting, packaging, and related industrial settings. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades as well as production line technicians working with paper and film substrates are the primary installers.
This tape is suited for high-speed splicing lines where reliable adhesion to kraft paper, coated papers, and plastic substrates is required. The acrylic adhesive maintains performance under variable temperature and humidity conditions, making it practical for converting operations that run in less-than-ideal environments. Good moisture resistance supports consistent splice integrity throughout a production run. Red-liner versions of the 9738 family are available separately for applications requiring a visible splice indicator.
Designed as an OEM-style double coated splicing tape for use in paper converting, packaging, and industrial bonding applications where pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesion to paper and plastic substrates is required.
Apply to clean, dry surfaces free of dust, oil, and loose fibers for maximum adhesion. Firm pressure applied across the full tape width during lamination improves initial bond strength. For splicing applications, follow equipment manufacturer guidelines for tape placement and splice geometry. No power shutdown is required for tape-based splicing, but production line safety lockout procedures should be followed when accessing roll-change mechanisms.
