The 3M 7100096552 is a Cubitron II Roloc Fibre Disc in the 987C series, engineered for heavy-duty metalworking. It uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain (PSG) bonded to a stiff fiber backing to deliver fast, aggressive stock removal with less operator pressure. The PSG geometry maintains sharp cutting points throughout the disc life, which extends service intervals and reduces the number of disc changes per job. At 4 inches in diameter and 80 grit, this disc is suited to weld grinding, beveling, and flame-cut edge clean-up on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. An integrated grinding aid manages heat buildup, making it appropriate for heat-sensitive alloys.
This disc is intended for industrial and trade metalworking environments where high-pressure grinding is routine. Typical applications include structural steel fabrication, pipe weld prep, and post-weld finishing on stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. The Roloc attachment system allows fast disc swaps without tools, supporting multi-grade workflows on a single grinder. The fiber backing and strong resin bond provide tear resistance during aggressive material removal on both flat and contoured surfaces. Licensed tradespeople in fabrication, pipefitting, and maintenance welding are the primary users.
Designed for use with Roloc-compatible right-angle grinders and disc pads accepting 4-inch coated abrasive fibre discs. Suitable for weld grinding, beveling, and flame-cut edge clean-up on stainless steel, nickel alloys, titanium, and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Mount to a Roloc-compatible disc pad on a right-angle grinder before use. Confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum speed rating before operation. Always power down and disconnect the grinder before changing discs. Use appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection when operating coated abrasive discs on metal.
