The 3M 7100096440 is a Cubitron II 984F coated abrasive belt built for demanding grinding operations on hard metals. It uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing, a combination engineered for medium to high pressure applications. The triangular ceramic grain continuously fractures to expose sharp cutting points, maintaining fast cut rates across the life of the belt. An integrated grinding aid keeps operating temperatures lower, reducing the risk of heat-related metal discoloration, oxidation, and stress cracking. This belt measures 126 inches in length and 27.563 inches in width.
The 984F belt is designed for use on stainless steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, carbon steel, and other exotic alloys in industrial grinding environments. It performs in robotic grinding lines and pressure-assisted applications where consistent cut rate and extended belt life reduce machine downtime. Fewer belt changes per shift translates directly to higher throughput in production settings. The YF-weight polyester backing holds up under the lateral and compressive forces common in high-pressure automated grinding cells.
Designed for medium to high pressure industrial belt grinding applications on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys, including robotic and pressure-assisted grinding systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or industrial maintenance technician following the equipment manufacturer's belt-change procedures. Confirm the belt tracking and tension settings match the machine manufacturer's specifications before running under load. Ensure the grinder is fully powered down and locked out before replacing the belt. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear or damage prior to mounting a new belt.
