The 3M 7100093314 is the Cubitron II 947A coated abrasive belt, built around 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology that slices through metal rather than gouging or plowing like conventional abrasive grains. The triangular grain geometry channels cutting force into a sharp edge, which translates to faster stock removal at lower operator pressure and significantly less heat buildup at the workpiece. The belt measures 15.5 inches long by 3.5 inches wide and rides on an X-weight poly-cotton backing chosen for its flexibility under load. A built-in grinding aid further reduces friction and keeps cutting temperatures down. Fabricators, weld prep technicians, and metal finishing shops rely on this belt for consistent, controlled material removal.
This belt is optimized for low- to medium-pressure grinding and finishing applications on stainless steel, mild steels, and aluminum. It fits standard contact-wheel and platen belt grinders used in metal fabrication, weld blending, and surface conditioning work. The flexible X-weight backing conforms well to slightly contoured surfaces, making it suitable for both flat stock and light-radius work. The 947A grade is positioned for operators who need aggressive cut rates without the heat damage risk that accompanies harder-pressing conventional ceramic belts.
Designed for use on standard contact-wheel and platen belt grinders accepting a 15.5-inch by 3.5-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum workpieces in fabrication and finishing applications.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the grinder manufacturer's tracking and tensioning procedures. Ensure the machine is fully de-energized and the wheel has come to a complete stop before changing belts. Inspect the contact wheel or platen for damage before mounting a new belt. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves during installation and operation.
