The 3M 7100093313 is a Cubitron II 947A coated abrasive belt engineered for metal grinding and finishing applications. It is built around 3M Precision-Shaped Grain, a triangular abrasive grain that slices through metal rather than plowing or gouging the surface. This cutting action removes material faster, at lower applied pressure, and generates less heat than conventional ceramic abrasive belts. The belt measures 15.5 inches long by 3.5 inches wide and is backed by an X-weight poly-cotton construction that provides the flexibility needed for contoured or irregular workpiece surfaces. A grinding aid is incorporated into the abrasive layer to further reduce friction and keep cutting temperatures low throughout the belt's service life.
This belt is optimized for low to medium pressure grinding and finishing on stainless steel, mild steels, and aluminum. It is suited for use in fabrication shops, maintenance and repair environments, and metal service centers where surface finish quality and heat control are critical. Typical applications include weld blending, deburring, edge work, and stock removal on flat and contoured metal parts. Licensed trades and metalworking professionals working in HVAC fabrication, plumbing rough-in, and general mechanical fabrication will find this belt well-matched to standard belt grinder and backstand configurations.
Designed for use on standard belt grinders and backstands accepting a 15.5-inch by 3.5-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for grinding and finishing stainless steel, mild steels, and aluminum workpieces in low to medium pressure applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with belt grinder equipment and abrasive safety practices. Confirm the machine is fully de-energized and the wheel or drive drum has come to a complete stop before changing belts. Inspect the belt for cracks, tears, or splice damage before mounting, and verify that belt tracking is properly adjusted before resuming operation. Follow ANSI B11.6 and applicable shop safety standards for abrasive belt equipment.
