The 3M 7100089306 is a multiple-wall, semi-rigid polyolefin heat shrink tubing designed for durable wire and cable insulation in demanding electrical applications. It features a 2.5:1 shrink ratio and a co-extruded construction with a selectively cross-linked outer wall and an integral meltable inner wall. When heated, the inner wall flows to seal around conductors, terminals, and splices, creating an environmental barrier that resists moisture, dust, and contaminants. Each stick measures 48 inches in length with a 0.25 inch diameter. Licensed electricians and electronics technicians are the primary installers of this product.
This tubing is suited for residential and commercial electrical work where a secure, environmentally sealed termination or splice is required. Common applications include wire harness protection, connector backshell sealing, terminal insulation, and butt splice covering. It is used in control panels, HVAC low-voltage wiring, marine wiring, and industrial equipment where a clean, mechanically stable heat shrink sleeve is needed. The black color provides UV resistance context and easy visual identification in wiring assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use heat shrink sleeve for electrical wiring, terminal connections, and splice insulation in residential, commercial, and industrial installations.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified technicians. De-energize all circuits before applying heat shrink tubing to any wiring or terminal. Use a calibrated heat gun rather than an open flame to apply uniform heat and ensure consistent recovery without scorching. Follow applicable NEC guidelines for wire insulation ratings and conductor protection in the installation environment.
