The 3M 7100084392 is a modified polychloroprene heat shrink tubing sold in a 200-foot spool, part of the 3M NST series designed for demanding electrical and mechanical protection applications. This tubing delivers superior cut-through and abrasion resistance, making it well suited for environments where cables and conductors face physical stress or exposure to oils, common fluids, and solvents. When heated above 135 degrees C (275 degrees F), the tubing shrinks rapidly to a skintight fit over the substrate. It is rated for continuous operation from -70 degrees C (-94 degrees F) to 121 degrees C (250 degrees F), covering a wide range of service conditions. Electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this product.
This tubing is recommended wherever a tough, highly flexible covering is required over wire bundles, connectors, terminals, or mechanical components. Its low-temperature flexibility prevents cracking or stiffening in cold environments such as outdoor installations, refrigeration systems, or unheated equipment rooms. The tubing accepts hot-stamp and print-wheel marking methods, which is useful for cable identification in panel wiring, harness assembly, and labeled component protection. It ships in a quantity of 3 spools per carton. Each spool contains 200 feet of tubing with a nominal diameter of 1/8 inch in black finish.
Designed as a general-purpose heat shrink tubing solution for wire and cable protection in electrical, industrial, and mechanical applications requiring a 1/8-inch nominal tubing diameter.
Installation is typically performed by licensed electricians or qualified maintenance technicians. De-energize all circuits before applying tubing to conductors or terminals and follow applicable NEC guidelines for insulation and conductor protection. Use a calibrated heat gun to apply even heat and achieve a uniform shrink — avoid open flames, which can scorch or unevenly shrink the tubing. Ensure the substrate is clean and dry before application for best adhesion and fit.
