The 3M 7100083075 is a multiple-wall polyolefin heat shrink tubing from the EPS-400 series, engineered to deliver robust environmental protection in electrical and electronic applications. The tubing ships in 48-inch sticks, with a nominal diameter of 0.450 inches, and weighs 0.21 pounds per unit. Its multiple-wall construction combines an outer polyolefin jacket with an inner adhesive lining that flows when heated, sealing out moisture, contaminants, and mechanical stress at the same time the tubing shrinks down over the substrate. Licensed electricians, aerospace harness technicians, and field service techs working on wire splices and harness terminations are the primary installers.
This tubing is suited for protecting wire splices, wire bundles, individual conductors, and harness breakouts in environments where moisture ingress, vibration, or chemical exposure are concerns. Typical applications include industrial control panels, automotive and marine wiring, field-repaired harnesses, and low-voltage electronic assemblies where a reliable environmental seal is required at termination points. The 48-inch stick length allows technicians to cut custom lengths on the bench before installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use heat shrink solution for wire splice protection, harness breakout sealing, and conductor bundling in electrical and electronic assemblies.
Installation is performed by qualified electricians or harness technicians following applicable NEC guidelines and equipment manufacturer requirements. De-energize all circuits completely before working on wire splices or harness connections. Apply heat evenly along the length of the tubing using a calibrated heat gun, working from the center outward to prevent air pockets from forming under the shrunk wall. Avoid open-flame heat sources, as uneven heat can scorch the tubing or prevent the inner adhesive from sealing correctly.
