The 3M 7100082003 is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for demanding bonding applications across a wide range of surface types. At 32 mil thick, it offers exceptional conformability, allowing it to make full contact with irregular or curved surfaces. The tape bonds reliably to high, medium, and medium-to-low surface energy substrates, making it suitable for metal, painted surfaces, and many plastics. In addition to structural bonding, it provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance. A PE film liner protects the adhesive during handling and storage. Holds a UL 746C listing.
This tape is commonly used in HVAC panel assembly, electrical enclosure fabrication, signage mounting, and general industrial bonding where mechanical fasteners are not practical. It is well-suited for both interior and exterior applications where a clean, permanent bond is required without visible hardware. Trade professionals use it for securing gaskets, trim, nameplates, and foam seals in fabrication and field service work.
Designed for bonding applications involving high, medium, and medium-to-low surface energy substrates including metals, painted surfaces, and select plastics. Suitable for use in HVAC, electrical, and general industrial fabrication contexts.
Surface preparation is critical before applying VHB tape — clean bonding surfaces thoroughly to remove oils, dust, and contaminants using an appropriate solvent wipe. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape length after positioning to maximize initial adhesion. Allow dwell time before applying full load as bond strength increases over the first 24 to 72 hours. VHB tape is a permanent bonding solution and is not intended for removable or repositionable applications.
