The 3M 7100081915 is a gray, double-sided, closed-cell acrylic foam tape sold under the VHB Tape 4936 designation. It measures 1 inch wide by 72 yards long and carries a 25 mil thickness profile. The tape features a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive on both faces and ships with a paper liner for handling convenience. It is conformable, meaning it follows irregular surface contours without losing bond integrity. Licensed HVAC technicians, electricians, sheet metal fabricators, and maintenance professionals use it for structural bonding, vibration damping, and impact-resistant attachment in demanding applications.
VHB Tape 4936 is suited for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many engineered plastics. Typical applications include attaching panels, mounting trim, sealing joints, and securing components where mechanical fasteners are impractical. Its plasticizer-resistant formulation makes it appropriate for use alongside PVC and other plasticizer-emitting materials. The cushioning and damping properties also make it useful in equipment enclosures and assemblies subject to vibration or intermittent impact loads.
Designed for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and compatible engineered plastics in industrial, commercial, and mechanical assembly applications.
Clean and dry both mating surfaces thoroughly before application — contamination is the leading cause of reduced bond strength with acrylic foam tapes. Apply firm pressure across the full tape width immediately after placement to activate the adhesive. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before applying full load to the bond. Handle and store the roll away from direct heat sources to preserve adhesive performance.
