The 3M 7100079710 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt built for detail surface work on metals. It uses an aluminum oxide grain bonded with resin onto a scrim-reinforced nonwoven open web backing. The result is a flexible, conformable belt that maintains consistent abrasive contact across flat, contoured, and edge geometries. Measuring 21 inches in length and 1 inch in width, it fits narrow-contact belt tools and robotic finishing systems used in metal fabrication and finishing shops. Machinists, fabricators, and finishing technicians install and use these belts during blending, deburring, and final surface conditioning operations.
This belt is suited for a wide range of metal surface conditioning tasks including blending weld seams, blending corners, cleaning oxidized surfaces, contour finishing, deburring sharp edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing straightline-brushed finishes. Its open web structure reduces loading and heat buildup, making it appropriate for extended runs on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where consistent finish quality is required across multiple parts.
Designed for use on narrow-contact belt sanders and robotic finishing systems that accept 21-inch by 1-inch abrasive belts. Suitable for use on a variety of metals including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Install only on belt tools rated for the belt dimensions and operating speed. Inspect the belt for tears or damage before mounting and confirm the tool is powered down and locked out before changing belts. Allow the belt to track and seat properly on the platen or contact wheel before applying full workpiece pressure. Follow the tool and equipment manufacturer guidelines for maximum safe operating speed.
