The 3M 7100078153 is a coated abrasive sanding disc designed for orbital and random-orbit sanders used in surface preparation, finish sanding, and material removal applications. Built on a C-weight paper backing, the disc uses aluminum oxide grain and an open-coat, load-resistant construction to maintain cut rate over extended use. The proprietary multi-hole pattern evacuates dust more efficiently than standard 5- or 6-hole disc designs, reducing loading and extending disc life. At P100 grit, it targets intermediate material removal and surface smoothing across wood, composites, and similar substrates. Installation and change-out use a hook-and-loop fastening system for fast swaps without tools.
This disc is suited for residential and commercial finishing trades, cabinet shops, and general woodworking or surface prep environments. The 6-inch diameter fits standard 6-inch random-orbit and orbital sanders equipped with hook-and-loop backing pads. The multi-hole pattern aligns automatically with the pad, eliminating the need for manual hole alignment during disc changes. Aluminum oxide construction makes it appropriate for wood, MDF, and painted or primed surfaces where consistent scratch pattern and cut rate are required.
Designed for use with 6-inch hook-and-loop random-orbit and orbital sanders. The multi-hole pattern is compatible with sanders that accept standard multi-hole or universal-hole backing pads.
Disc installation requires no tools — align the disc to the hook-and-loop backing pad and press firmly to seat. Ensure the sander backing pad is clean and free of debris before attaching a new disc to maintain proper adhesion. Inspect the disc for loading or grain wear before each use and replace when cut rate drops noticeably. Operate the sander according to the tool manufacturer's rated RPM to avoid disc damage.
