The 3M 7100076950 is an alumina zirconia coated abrasive belt designed for demanding material removal on metal and other hard substrates. The 577F series uses an alumina zirconia mineral with a grinding aid that delivers faster cutting action and longer service life compared to standard aluminum oxide belts. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing resists moisture and holds up under high contact pressure, making it well suited for aggressive stock removal, edge grinding, and weld blending. At 80 grit, this belt sits in the coarse range, ideal for rapid material removal before finishing passes. Licensed trades and fabrication shops count on this belt for consistent, repeatable results across high-production cycles.
This belt measures 18 inches in length and 1 inch in width, fitting narrow contact-wheel and platen belt grinders commonly used in metalworking, HVAC duct fabrication, plumbing rough-in, and general sheet metal work. The 80 grit cut is appropriate for deburring, weld seam removal, and surface conditioning on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Its cool-running mineral composition reduces heat buildup at the workpiece surface, which is a key advantage when working heat-sensitive alloys like aluminum and stainless steel where discoloration or warping is a concern.
Designed for use on narrow belt grinders and contact-wheel machines accepting 18 inch by 1 inch abrasive belts. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metallic substrates.
Belt grinder installation should be performed by qualified personnel following the machine manufacturer's guidelines and applicable OSHA abrasive wheel and belt safety standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing an abrasive belt. Confirm belt tracking and tension before resuming operation, and inspect the belt for tears or edge damage prior to each use. Eye protection and appropriate PPE are required when operating abrasive belt equipment.
