The 3M 7100069736 is a probed test earplug designed exclusively for use with the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System during earplug fit testing procedures. Each plug is fitted with a probe tube that allows the fit-testing system to measure attenuation directly inside the ear canal while a standard earplug is worn alongside it. These are not rated for hearing protection and must not be used as such. Hearing conservation professionals and occupational health technicians use these plugs to conduct quantitative fit tests on workers enrolled in hearing conservation programs.
This test plug is used in occupational and industrial hearing conservation settings where OSHA-compliant fit testing is required. The E-A-Rfit Validation System is commonly deployed in manufacturing, construction, mining, and other high-noise environments where employers must verify that workers achieve adequate personal attenuation ratings. These probed plugs are paired with compatible standard earplugs during the test session and are not distributed to workers for daily use.
Designed for use with the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System for quantitative earplug fit testing. Not compatible with or a substitute for standard hearing protection earplugs.
These test plugs are administered by a trained hearing conservation technician or occupational health professional, not a field trade installer. Before conducting a fit test, verify that the probe tube is fully intact and undamaged. Follow the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System operator instructions for proper placement and test sequencing. Do not attempt to use these plugs as standard hearing protection under any circumstances.
