The 3M 7100067792 is a silver vibration damping foil tape designed to absorb and dissipate mechanical vibration while reducing structure-borne noise. The tape features a dead soft aluminum foil constraining layer coated with a viscoelastic acrylic polymer adhesive that converts vibrational energy into low-level heat. A blue polyethylene easy-release liner protects the adhesive and supports die-cutting operations. This product is suited for HVAC, appliance, construction, automotive, aerospace, and general MRO applications where vibration or noise control is required.
This tape is used in residential and commercial settings wherever panels, housings, ducts, or structural members generate unwanted vibration or noise. Typical applications include duct lining, appliance cabinet dampening, automotive body panel treatment, and general industrial assembly. The linered construction allows it to be die-cut into custom shapes for production or field use. Cold temperature resistance down to -76 degrees F makes it suitable for refrigeration equipment and outdoor installations exposed to harsh conditions. UV and weather resistance extend service life in exposed environments.
Designed for use in aerospace, automotive, construction, appliance, and general MRO applications where vibration damping and noise reduction are required on metal or rigid panel surfaces.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly before application to ensure full adhesive contact. Apply firm hand pressure across the full tape surface after placement to seat the viscoelastic adhesive. A licensed HVAC technician or qualified MRO mechanic typically installs this product in commercial or industrial contexts. Do not stretch the foil during application, as deforming the constraining layer reduces damping performance.
