The 3M 7100064175 is a Cubitron II Hookit Clean Sanding Film Disc engineered for aggressive stock removal on a wide range of substrates. It uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain, a ceramic abrasive mineral formed into a triangular shape that slices material away rather than plowing or grinding like conventional abrasives. This geometry allows the disc to cut up to 2 times faster and last up to 6 times longer than standard abrasive discs. At 5 inches in diameter and 150 grit, it is well suited to finish-prep sanding, paint leveling, and surface conditioning work in body shop, fabrication, and general metalworking environments. The hook and loop attachment system enables fast disc swaps without tools.
This disc is primarily intended for stock removal applications across metal, painted surfaces, composites, and similar substrates. It is a common choice in automotive body repair, metal fabrication shops, and industrial finishing operations where throughput and disc longevity matter. The film backing resists tearing and holds its edge under aggressive sanding pressure, extending usable life per disc. The multi-hole pattern built into the disc face promotes active dust extraction when paired with a compatible vacuum-ready random orbital sander, keeping the work surface cleaner and improving visibility during material removal.
Designed for use with 5 inch hook and loop random orbital sanders equipped with a compatible multi-hole dust extraction pad. Suitable for metal, painted, and composite substrates in stock removal and surface prep applications.
Installation of this disc is performed by pressing it firmly onto a clean, dry hook and loop sanding pad until fully seated. Ensure the sander is powered off and unplugged before changing discs. Align the disc holes with the pad holes to maintain dust extraction efficiency. Inspect the pad face for worn or clogged hook material before attaching a new disc, as a degraded pad will reduce holding force during operation.
