The 3M 7100062982 is a convolute deburring wheel from the Scotch-Brite EXL PRO line, engineered for off-hand deburring and edge radiusing on metal workpieces. The wheel delivers 30 to 50 percent longer service life compared to the standard EXL wheel, using an extra-tough abrasive composition that cuts faster with less applied pressure. A unique resin system minimizes smearing on workpiece surfaces, reducing cleanup time between operations. At 8 inches in diameter and 4.2 inches wide, it fits bench-mounted and pedestal grinders used in metal fabrication, maintenance, and finishing shops. Machinists, tool and die workers, and fabricators handling deburring tasks on production or repair lines are the primary users.
This wheel is suited for off-hand operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where consistent edge radiusing and burr removal are required. Its convolute construction maintains a smooth, conformable cutting action throughout the wheel life, making it appropriate for both production environments and jobsite metalworking. The wheel is designed to minimize heat buildup, reducing the risk of discoloration or thermal distortion on heat-sensitive materials. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 4 units per order.
Designed for use on bench-mounted and pedestal grinders configured for convolute deburring wheels. Confirm arbor hole diameter and grinder RPM rating against wheel specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive wheel safety per ANSI B7.1 guidelines. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before each use and never exceed the maximum RPM marked on the wheel. Eye protection and appropriate PPE are required during operation.
