The 3M 7100053741 is a dead-soft aluminum foil tape designed for heat shielding, heat reflecting, chemical masking, seaming, sealing, light enhancement, and de-paint operations across a wide range of industries. It pairs a conformable aluminum foil backing with a highly engineered pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive that delivers long-term bond strength yet removes cleanly after harsh masking applications. The tape is thermally conductive, helping dissipate heat and improve heating and cooling efficiency around temperature-sensitive materials. It is recognized by UL to UL 746C and classified by UL to UL 723 Class L for low flammability. HVAC technicians, sheet metal workers, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary installers of this product.
This tape is used in residential and commercial HVAC work for duct seaming and sealing, in industrial settings for chemical milling and masking operations, and in electrical and electronic applications where heat management and light reflection are required. The dead-soft aluminum foil backing conforms easily to curved and uneven surfaces, making it suitable for irregular geometries common in HVAC ductwork, piping insulation, and equipment shielding applications. Its resistance to flame, weathering, moisture, and UV exposure makes it appropriate for both indoor and outdoor installs.
Designed for use in HVAC duct seaming and sealing, heat shielding, chemical masking, chemical milling, de-paint operations, and light-enhancement applications across commercial and industrial environments.
Surface preparation is critical — clean, dry, and dust-free substrates will produce the strongest adhesive bond. Apply firm pressure across the full tape width after positioning to ensure full contact with the adhesive. When used in HVAC duct applications, installations should conform to applicable local mechanical codes and SMACNA standards. No special tools are required beyond a straight-edge cutter or tape dispenser.
