The 3M 7100053644 is a dead-soft aluminum foil tape coated with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive, designed for demanding industrial and HVAC applications. The aluminum foil backing conforms readily to curved, irregular, and uneven surfaces, making it well suited for seaming, sealing, heat shielding, and heat reflecting tasks. The acrylic adhesive provides long-term bond durability while still releasing cleanly after masking operations. The tape withstands exposure to flame, moisture, UV, and weathering, and is thermally conductive to help dissipate heat and improve heating and cooling efficiency around temperature-sensitive materials.
This tape is used across a wide range of industries including HVAC, aerospace, manufacturing, and general industrial maintenance. Common applications include heat shielding, light enhancement, chemical masking, chemical milling, de-paint operations, and duct seaming and sealing. HVAC technicians frequently use aluminum foil tapes of this type for sealing ductwork connections and wrapping insulation. The tape is supplied in a 3-inch width by 60-yard length roll, providing substantial coverage per roll for production and service work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use foil tape suitable for HVAC ductwork sealing, insulation facing, heat shielding, and industrial masking applications where a pressure-sensitive aluminum foil tape with acrylic adhesive is specified.
Application of pressure-sensitive foil tape should be performed by qualified HVAC technicians or industrial maintenance personnel following applicable codes such as SMACNA duct construction standards. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, or loose material before tape is applied for maximum adhesion. Avoid applying below minimum temperature thresholds specified by the adhesive manufacturer, and press tape firmly using a roller or squeegee to ensure full contact. Do not use this tape as a substitute for listed duct sealants in applications where a rated sealant is required by local mechanical code.
