The 3M 7100053378 is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for structural bonding and surface-mounting applications. At 25 mil thick, it conforms to irregular surfaces while delivering strong adhesion to high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many plastics. The gray foam core provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance alongside its primary bonding function. A paper liner protects the adhesive during handling and allows clean, controlled application. Plasticizer resistance makes it suitable for use with PVC and other plasticizer-containing materials. Sold as a single roll measuring 0.5 inches wide by 72 yards long.
This tape is used across construction, HVAC panel assembly, electrical enclosure fabrication, sign mounting, and general industrial assembly where mechanical fasteners are impractical or undesirable. It is well suited for bonding trim, nameplates, gaskets, and lightweight structural panels in both indoor and outdoor environments. Trades including sheet metal workers, electricians, and general contractors use VHB tape as a clean alternative to rivets, screws, or liquid adhesives where surface appearance or substrate integrity must be maintained.
Designed for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many plastic surfaces in industrial and construction assembly applications.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum bond strength — clean bonding surfaces thoroughly to remove dust, oil, and moisture before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape area after positioning to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before subjecting the bond to load. No special tools are required, but a roller or squeegee is recommended for consistent contact pressure on large surfaces.
