The 3M 7100050302 is a coated abrasive fibre disc engineered for heavy-duty metalworking. Part of the Cubitron II Roloc 987C line, it uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain on a rigid fibre backing to deliver fast, aggressive stock removal with reduced operator pressure. At 3 inches in diameter and 80 grit, it is sized for angle grinders and die grinders equipped with a Roloc-style quick-change hub. Trades that handle weld grinding, beveling, and flame-cut edge clean-up will find the combination of cool-running grain technology and a stiff, tear-resistant backing well suited to production-rate work on hard metals.
This disc is used in fabrication shops, structural steel work, pipeline work, and MRO environments where operators grind welds flush, bevel plate edges, or clean up thermally cut surfaces. The grinding aid built into the disc helps manage heat on heat-sensitive alloys including stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium, reducing the risk of discoloration, oxidation, and heat-related stress cracking. The Roloc attachment system allows fast disc swaps between grits or disc types without tools, which supports multi-step blending workflows on a single grinder platform.
Designed for use with Roloc-compatible quick-change angle grinders and die grinders rated for coated abrasive fibre discs at the appropriate RPM for a 3-inch diameter disc.
Installation and operation of abrasive discs should follow ANSI B11 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.243 guidelines for abrasive wheel safety. Verify that the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the maximum RPM rating marked on the disc before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc that shows cracks, tears, or delamination. Use appropriate personal protective equipment including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during grinding operations.
