The 3M 7100046309 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) abrasive disc from the 3M 775L series, designed for stock removal and surface preparation in professional finishing applications. The disc measures 6 inches in diameter and cuts with 80-grit ceramic abrasive, placing it in the medium grade range. A flexible film backing allows the disc to conform to contoured workpiece surfaces, maintaining consistent contact and cutting action. These discs ship in packs of 100 and are intended for use by metalworking professionals, fabricators, and finishing technicians who require reliable, repeatable abrasive performance in high-volume production environments.
This disc is suited for metal, composites, and painted surfaces where aggressive stock removal or surface leveling is required prior to finer finishing passes. The PSA mount system provides a fast, tool-free disc change on compatible random orbital sanders. The purple ceramic abrasive grain is a self-sharpening material that maintains cut rate longer than conventional aluminum oxide under sustained load. No vacuum holes are included, making this version appropriate for solid backup pads without dust-extraction ports.
Designed for use with random orbital sanders that accept 6-inch PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) backup pads. No vacuum holes are present, so this disc is not suitable for hook-and-loop or perforated dust-extraction pad configurations.
Installation is performed by a metalworking technician, fabricator, or finishing professional. Ensure the backup pad surface is clean and free of adhesive residue before applying each new disc; contamination reduces bond strength and can cause disc detachment under load. Do not exceed the maximum RPM rating of the backup pad when mounting these discs. Inspect the disc and pad for damage before each use and discard any disc showing tears, delamination, or loss of abrasive coverage.
