The 3M 7100045949 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt engineered for demanding metalworking and finishing applications. Built on a reinforced nonwoven open-web construction with silicon carbide abrasive, this belt delivers consistent results across a wide range of surface preparation tasks including blending, deburring, fine finishing, and stainless steel finishing. At 132 inches long and 3 inches wide, it fits standard industrial belt grinders and finishing machines used by fabricators, maintenance techs, and production line operators. The open-web design reduces heat buildup and loading, extending usable belt life and producing repeatable surface quality run after run.
This belt is suited for both manual and robotic processing environments. Its conformability allows the abrasive to maintain contact with complex-shaped parts, contours, and edges without losing cutting action. Typical applications include removing grind lines, mill marks, and surface imperfections on stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals. It is used in light manufacturing, metal fabrication shops, food equipment finishing, and maintenance operations where consistent, controlled surface conditioning is required.
Designed for use on standard industrial belt finishing and grinding machines that accept a 132-inch by 3-inch surface conditioning belt.
Installation should be performed by a trained operator or industrial maintenance technician familiar with belt finishing equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts, following applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension per the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or damage before each use and do not exceed the rated operating speed of the equipment.
