The 3M 7100044834 is an acrylic latex firestop sealant designed to seal through-penetrations and construction joints in fire-rated assemblies. When installed in tested and listed systems, it provides up to 4-hour fire protection. The sealant remains elastomeric after cure, with plus or minus 19% movement capability, making it suitable for dynamic head-of-wall applications. It also functions as an acoustic barrier, achieving an STC rating of 56 when tested in a matching STC 56-rated wall assembly. Licensed contractors and firestop specialty installers apply this product in both new construction and retrofit work.
This sealant is formulated for use around metal pipes and cables passing through concrete or gypsum board assemblies. It is also listed for dynamic head-of-wall joint systems where building movement must be accommodated. The blue color aids inspection and verification in tested systems. No on-site mixing is required. It is available in a 20 fl oz sausage format sized for use with a standard bulk caulk gun. Applications include commercial and residential construction projects where IBC and other life safety building code compliance is required.
Designed for use in tested and listed firestop systems involving metal pipes and cables through concrete or gypsum board, and for dynamic head-of-wall joint assemblies. Refer to the applicable UL or other third-party system listing for specific substrate and assembly requirements.
Installation must be performed in strict accordance with the applicable tested and listed system design to achieve the rated fire protection. A licensed firestop contractor or qualified installer should confirm the correct system listing before applying the sealant. Substrate surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants prior to application. Follow all applicable building and fire codes, including IBC requirements, for through-penetration firestop systems.
