The 3M 7100043760 is a UL181B-FX listed, bi-axially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) duct closure tape engineered for sealing and closing flexible air ducts and air connectors. At 3 mil thick, the silver BOPP backing is highly conformable, allowing it to wrap around curved and irregular duct surfaces without lifting. The cold-weather acrylic adhesive bonds on contact to fiberglass, foam, metal, and fibrous duct materials. Rated for service from -40 degrees F to 185 degrees F, the tape maintains its hold in high-humidity environments and extreme temperature swings. HVAC technicians and sheet-metal contractors rely on it for code-compliant duct sealing on residential and light-commercial systems.
This tape is primarily used for sealing and securing flexible air ducts and air connectors in residential and commercial HVAC installations. The UL181B-FX listing makes it appropriate for flexible duct closure systems where code-compliant closure materials are required. Recommended applications include sealing flexible air ducts, sealing air connectors, and securing flex duct terminations. The UV-resistant formulation also supports installs in attic spaces and other areas with elevated UV exposure. The UL181B-FX rating is printed directly on the tape exterior for easy field identification during inspection.
Designed for sealing and closure of flexible air ducts and air connectors where UL181B-FX listed tape is specified. Compatible substrates include fiberglass, foam, metal, and fibrous duct materials.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet-metal contractor in accordance with local mechanical codes and the duct system manufacturer's instructions. Power down the air handler and verify the system is de-pressurized before applying tape to duct connections. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust or grease to ensure full adhesive contact. Apply firm hand pressure across the entire tape surface after placement to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive bond.
