The 3M 7100042803 is a solvent resistant masking tape built for surface protection during painting, coating, and chemical-exposure applications. It consists of a black polyethylene film laminated over saturated crepe paper, giving it strong resistance to a wide range of solvents, water-based solutions, emulsions, wax-base paint strippers, and mild caustic solvent-emulsion solutions. The high-tack rubber adhesive bonds quickly to a variety of surfaces and tears cleanly by hand, making it practical for fast-paced job site use. Rolls measure 1.5 inches wide by 60 yards long and weigh approximately 1.2 pounds per roll.
This tape is suited for masking surfaces that will be exposed to solvents, water solutions, or paint strippers during industrial or maintenance work. Common applications include protecting trim, fixtures, and adjacent surfaces during spray painting or chemical treatment in commercial and industrial settings. It is also rated for outdoor exposure for up to three months, making it a reliable option for exterior masking tasks where weather and UV exposure are factors. Installers in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance trades use this tape when standard paper masking tape lacks sufficient chemical resistance.
Designed for use as a solvent resistant masking tape on opaque surfaces in industrial, commercial, and maintenance applications where standard crepe masking tape does not provide adequate chemical protection.
Apply to clean, dry surfaces free of dust, oil, and loose material for best adhesion. Remove tape promptly after the masking task is complete to simplify clean removal, particularly on painted or finished surfaces. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this can cause lifting or distortion of the seal. This product is intended for masking and surface protection only and should not be used as a structural or pressure-rated seal.
