The 3M 7100041567 is a cold-weather aluminum foil tape designed for sealing, joining, and patching fibrous ductboard and sheet metal duct systems. The tape features a nominal 1.8 mil aluminum foil backing coated with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive engineered to maintain bond strength at temperatures as low as -10 degrees F. At 2.83 inches wide and 25 meters long per roll, it provides substantial coverage for both residential and light commercial HVAC applications. The flexible foil construction allows it to conform to curved, irregular, and fibrous surfaces without lifting or delaminating. HVAC technicians and sheet metal installers are the primary users of this product.
This tape is suited for duct sealing and insulation facing repairs on fibrous ductboard and sheet metal duct systems, including installations in unconditioned spaces such as attics, crawlspaces, and mechanical rooms where low ambient temperatures are common. Its hand-tearable design eliminates the need for a cutting tool on the job, making it practical for field installation. The reflective aluminum surface also makes it appropriate for general-purpose heat shielding and light-reflecting applications in HVAC and mechanical system environments.
Designed for use on fibrous ductboard and sheet metal ducts. Also suitable for general-purpose heat shielding and light-reflecting applications in HVAC and mechanical systems.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal workers in accordance with local mechanical codes and SMACNA duct construction standards. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust or grease before applying the tape to ensure maximum adhesion. Power down and de-energize any associated air handling equipment before working inside duct systems. No special tools are required for cutting or application.
