The 3M 7100040146 is a ready-to-use, gun-grade latex-based elastomeric firestop sealant designed for commercial and residential construction applications. It cures upon exposure to air to form a monolithic, flexible firestop seal. When installed in tested and listed systems, it provides up to 4-hour fire protection. The sealant also functions as an acoustic barrier, achieving an STC rating of 56 when tested in an STC 56-rated wall assembly. It carries 19% movement capability, supporting both compression and extension without compromising the seal. This sausage-format package is sized for standard caulking guns used by fire stop installers and general contractors.
This sealant is used to firestop construction joints and through-penetrations in floor, wall, and ceiling assemblies. It is suited for residential and commercial construction where fire-rated and smoke-rated assemblies are required. The product helps prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and noxious gas through openings in rated assemblies. It meets International Building Code requirements and other key life safety building code standards, and meets the intent of LEED VOC environmental regulations. No mixing is required prior to application.
Designed for use in tested and listed firestop systems for construction joints and through-penetrations in rated floor, wall, and ceiling assemblies. Exhibits strong adhesion to a full range of construction substrates.
Installation should be performed by qualified fire stop installers or contractors familiar with applicable building codes, including the International Building Code and local fire and life safety requirements. Power tools, substrate surfaces, and penetrating items should be prepared per the tested system specifications before applying sealant. Do not apply over surfaces that are wet, frozen, or below the minimum application temperature specified by the manufacturer. Verify that the installed system matches a tested and listed assembly to maintain the fire rating.
