The 3M 7100039145 is a silicon carbide unitized abrasive wheel from the Standard Abrasives 500 Series, designed for light-pressure surface work on flat and contoured parts. The soft, conformable density construction makes it well suited for blending, finishing, and polishing applications where close tolerances and precise material removal are required. The open, non-woven web resists loading, extending service life across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. At 6 inches in diameter and 1.285 pounds, it mounts to standard unitized wheel mandrels for use with bench or handheld power tools.
This wheel is used in metalworking and fabrication environments where fine surface finishes are required without aggressive stock removal. It performs on ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, exotic alloys, titanium, and composite materials. Typical applications include deburring, blending weld seams, and pre-polish finishing on machined or formed components. The wheel runs both clockwise and counterclockwise, which adds flexibility when paired with variable-tool setups on production lines or job-shop benches.
Designed for use with unitized wheel mandrels on bench grinders, right-angle grinders, and similar rotary power tools that accept center-hole mounted abrasive wheels.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist, fabricator, or abrasives technician. Disconnect or de-energize the tool before mounting or removing the wheel. Ensure the mandrel and arbor are rated for the wheel diameter and the tool RPM before operation. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and do not exceed the tool manufacturer's rated speed.
