The 3M 7100038236 is a flexible diamond QRS cloth disc engineered for grinding hard-to-work materials that defeat conventional abrasives. The disc uses micron-graded diamond mineral locked in a metal bond for aggressive, consistent cutting action on stone, glass, ceramics, carbides, and composites. An open dot mineral pattern keeps the surface clear by letting swarf and debris escape, reducing loading and extending usable life. The semi-flexible backing conforms to edges and contoured surfaces, maintaining contact where flat discs would skip. The quick-release attachment system speeds disc changes during production work.
This disc is sized at 1.5 inches in diameter and is suited for precision grinding and finishing tasks on workpieces made from hard, brittle, or abrasion-resistant materials. Typical applications include shaping and smoothing stone tile, glass components, fired ceramics, carbide tooling, and advanced composite parts. The quick-release (QRS) interface makes it compatible with random orbital and disc sanders equipped with a matching hook-and-loop or QRS backing pad. This disc is used by tool-and-die technicians, fabricators, and finishing trades working with difficult substrate materials.
Designed for use with random orbital or disc sanders equipped with a QRS-compatible backing pad. Intended for grinding and finishing stone, glass, ceramics, carbides, and composite materials.
Verify the sander backing pad is compatible with the QRS quick-release interface before mounting the disc. Power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before changing discs. Do not exceed the tool or disc rated speed. Wear appropriate eye and respiratory protection when grinding ceramics, carbides, or composites, as these materials produce fine, hazardous particulate.
