The 3M 7100036714 is a 5.0 mil acrylic adhesive transfer tape designed for high-strength bonding across a wide range of similar and dissimilar materials. It uses a 300 high-strength acrylic adhesive carried on a 3.5 mil, 60 lb densified kraft paper liner. The tape is transparent and supplied in a 0.5 inch wide by 180 yard roll. It is well suited for trade and industrial applications where a thin, aggressive adhesive layer with high initial tack is required. Installers and fabricators working with films, foils, fabrics, and rigid substrates will find this tape effective for general-purpose transfer bonding.
This tape is used as a general-purpose transfer tape in applications requiring an aggressive adhesive with high initial adhesion. It is well suited for splicing films, foils, and fabrics, and for laminating foams, photos, fabrics, and metal or plastic nameplates. It performs on both high surface energy (HSE) and low surface energy (LSE) materials, making it a versatile option across a broad range of substrates encountered in fabrication, HVAC panel assembly, electrical labeling, and similar trade work.
Designed for bonding a wide variety of similar and dissimilar materials including films, foils, fabrics, foams, photos, and metal or plastic nameplates across general-purpose transfer tape applications.
Surface preparation is critical before applying any pressure-sensitive adhesive transfer tape — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly and allow any solvents to fully evaporate before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the bond line to ensure full adhesive contact. Remove the liner carefully and avoid stretching the adhesive film during handling. This tape does not require special tools but should be applied at temperatures within the manufacturer-recommended range for optimal initial adhesion.
