The 3M 7100036281 is a heat shrink flexible polyolefin tubing designed to protect electronic components, wire splices, and bundled wire runs. Sold as a 5-piece pack, each tube measures 3/4 inch in diameter and 48 inches in length. When heat is applied, the tubing shrinks to form a tight, conforming sleeve that insulates and mechanically protects the underlying connection or conductor. Electricians, HVAC technicians, and electronics service professionals use this tubing wherever a durable, flexible protective sleeve is required on wire harnesses or splice points.
This tubing is suited for residential and light commercial applications where wire protection, bundling, or insulation of splices is needed. It performs in environments common to electrical panels, HVAC control wiring, and equipment harnesses. The flexible polyolefin material remains pliable after shrinking, making it appropriate for installations where the protected wire or component may experience movement or vibration.
Designed as an OEM-style protective sleeving solution for wire splices, conductor bundles, and electronic component protection in electrical and HVAC service applications.
Installation is performed by electricians or HVAC technicians following applicable NEC guidelines. De-energize all circuits before applying tubing over splices or conductors. Slide the tubing over the connection point before terminating, then apply uniform heat using a heat gun to achieve full shrink and a snug fit. Avoid using an open flame, as uncontrolled heat can damage the tubing or adjacent components.
