The 3M 7100031307 is the Cubitron II 967A flap disc, a Type 29 (T29) right-angle grinding disc engineered for medium-pressure material removal on flat and contoured surfaces. Built around 3M Precision-Shaped Grain abrasive technology, this disc cuts faster and lasts longer than conventional aluminum oxide flap discs. At 4.5 inches in diameter and 80 grit, it targets weld leveling, light deburring, and surface preparation ahead of painting or coating. The poly-cotton backing promotes controlled, even wear under medium unit pressure, and individual flaps break down progressively to expose fresh mineral throughout the life of the disc.
This disc is suited for fabrication shops and field grinding operations working with mild steel and stainless steel. It performs well on weld seam removal, bead blending, and surface prep where gouge resistance and consistent finish quality matter. Stainless steel fabricators benefit from its reduced gouging tendency compared to fiber discs and bonded abrasive wheels. The T29 conical profile allows both flat and contoured surface contact, making it practical for a range of workpiece geometries encountered in structural, sheet metal, and pipe fabrication work. Minimum order quantity is 10 discs per unit.
Designed for use with standard 4.5-inch right-angle grinders accepting T29 flap disc arbor configurations; appropriate for mild steel and stainless steel workpieces in medium-pressure grinding and surface preparation applications.
Mount and operate this disc using a right-angle grinder rated for the disc diameter and maximum RPM stamped on the disc. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use if flaps are torn or the hub is cracked. Always wear appropriate PPE including a face shield and grinding gloves. Follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable workplace safety guidelines for abrasive wheel use.
