The 3M 7100029966 is a coated abrasive cloth belt engineered for demanding stock removal and metal finishing applications. It uses a blend of 3M ceramic abrasive grain and aluminum oxide, a combination that cuts faster and lasts longer than conventional aluminum oxide belts. The heavyweight polyester backing handles high-pressure grinding without breaking down, and the belt runs equally well dry or with a liquid lubricant. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup at the workpiece surface, making this belt particularly effective on heat-sensitive metals such as stainless steel. Metalworking shops, fabricators, and finishing technicians install and run this belt on standard abrasive belt machines.
This belt is sized at 360 inches long by 6 inches wide, suited to large industrial belt grinders and wide-belt finishing machines. The P120 grit rating places it in the medium-fine range, appropriate for intermediate finishing passes where operators need to refine surface finish while still achieving meaningful stock removal. Orange backing color aids in quick identification on the shop floor. The resin bond resists heat deterioration, extending usable belt life compared to standard bonded abrasives in the same grit range.
