The 3M 7100026606 is a coated abrasive belt from the Cubitron II 984F line, built for medium to high pressure grinding on demanding metals. It uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain — a structured ceramic abrasive that continuously fractures into fresh, sharp cutting points rather than dulling like conventional abrasive grain. The belt measures 132 inches long by 6 inches wide and cuts at 36 grit. The YF-weight polyester cloth backing is engineered to handle the stress of pressure-assisted and robotic grinding operations without premature breakdown. A built-in grinding aid helps control heat generation, reducing the risk of metal discoloration, oxidation, and heat-related stress fractures on sensitive alloys.
This belt is used in industrial and fabrication environments where consistent stock removal on hard-to-grind metals is required. Primary applications include surface grinding and finishing on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys. The 984F construction is well suited for robotic grinding cells and pressure-assisted belt grinders where belt life and consistent cut rate directly affect throughput. It is installed and operated by metalworking fabricators, weld grinding technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals in manufacturing settings.
Designed for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys in medium to high pressure belt grinding and robotic grinding applications.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the equipment manufacturer's guidelines for belt tension, tracking, and contact wheel selection. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a belt. Inspect the belt for damage before each use and never operate a belt that shows tears, splice separation, or backing delamination. Proper personal protective equipment including eye protection and gloves is required during installation and operation.
