The 3M 7100026443 is a Scotch-Brite LC-DH Light Coating Removal Disc engineered for surface preparation work on ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates. This 5-inch diameter non-woven abrasive disc uses medium-grade aluminum oxide mineral bonded into an open-web construction, allowing it to cut efficiently at speeds up to 10000 RPM while resisting loading from dust and debris. The hook and loop backing mounts quickly to compatible hook and loop back-up pads. HVAC service techs, pipefitters, and general metalworkers reach for this disc when light paint, rust, sealant, or varnish needs to come off without damaging the base material.
This disc is suited for light coating removal tasks in residential and commercial maintenance, fabrication, and repair environments. The conformable open-web structure lets the disc follow contours on sheet metal, pipe, and structural components, delivering consistent surface results across high-volume part runs. Compared to more aggressive abrasive products such as the 3M Clean and Strip line, the LC-DH disc produces a finer finish and removes material at a lighter duty rate, making it appropriate when substrate integrity is a priority.
Designed for use with hook and loop back-up pads compatible with 5-inch non-woven discs. Back-up pads are sold separately. Suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates.
This disc is installed and operated by machinists, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and metal fabricators using angle grinders or disc sanders equipped with a hook and loop back-up pad. Before mounting, confirm the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 10000 RPM disc rating. Always power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before attaching or removing the disc. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when performing abrasive surface work.
