The 3M 7100025950 is a flame-retardant heat-shrink insulating tubing designed to cover and protect bus bars in electrical distribution equipment. Sold as a 20-foot length, the tubing is manufactured from a cross-linked, track-resistant polyolefin compound that conforms to rectangular, square, and round bus bar profiles upon application of heat. The flame-retardant formulation meets the demands of enclosed electrical enclosures where arc and tracking resistance is a safety requirement. Electricians and panel technicians use this tubing to insulate live bus bar conductors during assembly or maintenance of switchgear, panelboards, and distribution panels.
This tubing is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where bus bars require insulation or re-insulation. Typical applications include low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, bus duct systems, and custom fabricated distribution equipment. The 20-foot minimum order quantity supports both single-bus service work and larger panel assembly jobs.
Designed as an OEM-style insulating sleeve for rectangular, square, and round bus bars commonly found in low-voltage electrical distribution equipment.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out all circuits before applying or removing bus bar insulation. Apply heat evenly using an appropriate heat gun to shrink the tubing uniformly along the bus bar length. Do not use an open flame to apply heat.
