The 3M 7100025890 is a modified polychloroprene heat shrink tubing sold under the NST designation, designed for applications that demand a tough, highly flexible protective covering over wiring, cables, and components. This tubing shrinks to a skintight fit when heated above 135 degrees C (275 degrees F), creating a secure, conforming sleeve. It is rated for continuous operation from -70 degrees C (-94 degrees F) to 121 degrees C (250 degrees F), making it suitable for environments with extreme temperature swings. Electricians and industrial technicians use it where abrasion resistance, fluid resistance, and long-term flexibility are all required.
This NST tubing is suited for residential and commercial electrical applications, industrial wiring harness protection, and equipment manufacturing environments where exposed conductors or components need durable sleeving. It performs well in areas subject to oil, common solvents, and other fluids. The tubing is also compatible with hot-stamp and print-wheel marking methods, which is useful for identification labeling during panel builds or harness assembly. It is supplied in 50-foot spools, with 2 spools per carton.
Designed as a general-purpose heat shrink sleeving solution for electrical wiring, cable harnesses, and component protection in commercial and industrial installations where modified polychloroprene construction is specified.
Installation is typically performed by licensed electricians or experienced assembly technicians. De-energize all circuits before applying tubing to any live conductor or terminal. Use a calibrated heat gun rather than an open flame to apply controlled heat evenly and avoid overheating adjacent components. Follow applicable NEC guidelines for wire insulation and sleeving requirements in the specific installation environment.
