The 3M 7100025320 is a wraparound heat shrink cable repair sleeve rated for use on cable systems from 1 to 35 kV. It is engineered to repair damaged cable sheaths and outer jackets in medium-voltage power cable applications. The inner wall is lined with hot-melt adhesive that activates when heat is applied, forming a watertight, mechanically robust bond with the cable surface. A corrosion-resistant metal closure clip seals the longitudinal seam, allowing the sleeve to be installed on in-place cables without requiring end access. Licensed electricians and cable splicers are the typical installers on utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
This sleeve is suited for medium-voltage cable sheath repair in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical distribution systems. In addition to direct sheath repair, it is appropriate for use over cable joints and as supplemental corrosion protection on undamaged cable runs in aggressive or buried environments. The wraparound design makes it practical for retrofit installations where cable ends are inaccessible.
Designed for use on medium-voltage power cables rated 1 to 35 kV, including cable joint assemblies and continuous cable runs requiring sheath repair or corrosion protection.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or certified cable splicer in accordance with applicable NEC requirements and local utility standards. De-energize and verify the absence of voltage on the cable before beginning any repair work. Apply heat evenly along the sleeve using an appropriate heat tool, working from the center outward to prevent air entrapment under the adhesive layer. Do not overheat or concentrate the flame on any single area, as uneven heating can compromise the adhesive seal.
