The 3M 7100023338 is a differential double coated tape sold under the 9415PC designation. It combines two distinct acrylic adhesives on a polyester film carrier backed by a 78 lb polycoated kraft paper liner. One side carries 3M Acrylic Adhesive 400, a permanent high-tack adhesive with strong peel strength and good low-temperature performance. The opposite side carries 3M Repositionable Acrylic Adhesive 1000, a low-tack adhesive that bonds reliably yet releases cleanly without leaving residue. The tape is 2 inches wide, 72 yards long, and 2 mil thick. It is clear, offering optical clarity suited to visible or window-facing applications. Installers and fabricators in signage, graphics, and light industrial assembly are the primary users.
This tape is used in applications where one substrate must bond permanently while the other requires clean, repositionable contact. Typical uses include mounting window labels, attaching graphic overlays, splicing dissimilar materials such as metals, glass, wood, paper, paints, and many plastics, and light assembly work where rework or repositioning is required on one bonding face. The tape performs in medium-temperature environments and offers moderate solvent resistance. It is suited for both medium and low surface energy substrates on the repositionable side.
Designed for bonding similar and dissimilar materials including metals, glass, wood, papers, paints, and many plastics. Suitable for medium and low surface energy substrates on the repositionable adhesive side.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean bonding surfaces free of dust, oil, and moisture to ensure proper adhesive contact. Power down or de-energize any assembly line or fixture before applying tape in an automated process. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape surface after positioning to activate adhesive contact. The repositionable side allows adjustment after initial placement, but repeated repositioning will reduce adhesive performance over time.
