The 3M 7100020234 is the Cubitron II 984F coated abrasive belt, engineered for demanding metal grinding and finishing operations. Built on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing, this belt uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology that continuously fractures to expose sharp new cutting points, maintaining fast, consistent material removal over the life of the belt. The integrated grinding aid helps manage heat generation, reducing the risk of metal discoloration, oxidation, and heat-related stress cracks. The belt measures 18 inches in length and 3/4 inch in width with a 60-grit cut rate. Professionals in metal fabrication, aerospace component finishing, and weld blending will find this belt suited to medium and high pressure applications.
This belt is designed for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys. It performs well in robotic grinding systems and pressure-assisted belt finishing equipment where consistent cut rate and long belt life reduce downtime between changeouts. Its cooler running characteristics make it especially appropriate when thermal damage to the workpiece must be minimized, such as in close-tolerance aerospace or medical component grinding.
Designed for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and exotic alloys in medium to high pressure belt grinding and finishing applications, including robotic and pressure-assisted systems.
Installation of abrasive belts should be performed by qualified personnel following the grinder or belt finishing equipment manufacturer's instructions. Ensure the machine is fully de-energized and locked out before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming operation, and confirm the belt arrow direction matches the intended rotation direction. Always use appropriate PPE, including eye protection and gloves, when handling and installing abrasive products.
