The 3M 7100018918 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail surface work on a variety of metals. Built on a reinforced scrim backing with an open-web nonwoven construction and aluminum oxide (AO) mineral bonded with resin, it delivers consistent material removal and finish quality over extended operating cycles. The open-web structure reduces loading and heat buildup, which extends belt life and keeps surface conditioning results uniform. At 132 inches long and 4 inches wide, it suits wide-belt and robotic finishing equipment common in metalworking and fabrication shops.
This belt is used in light industrial and fabrication environments where controlled surface finishing is required. Typical applications include blending weld seams, deburring edges, cleaning mill scale, flat finishing, contour finishing, and producing straightline-brushed or stainless steel finishes. Its conformable structure allows the abrasive to maintain contact on complex-shaped or contoured parts, making it suitable for both manual finishing setups and automated robotic processing lines.
Designed for use on wide-belt finishing machines and robotic abrasive processing equipment that accept a 132-inch by 4-inch surface conditioning belt.
Installation is typically performed by a machine operator or maintenance technician following the equipment manufacturer's belt-change procedure. Always power down and de-energize the finishing machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension settings per the machine manufacturer's specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the platen and contact drum for wear before mounting a new belt.
