The 3M 7100016736 is a 2-inch coated abrasive disc engineered for both stock removal and finishing operations. It combines 3M ceramic abrasive grain with aluminum oxide in a self-sharpening blend that delivers improved cut-rate and durability compared to straight aluminum oxide products. The disc rides on a heavy polyester backing rated for medium-pressure applications in both wet and dry environments. A grinding aid is incorporated into the construction to reduce heat buildup during work on heat-sensitive alloys including stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators working in metal finishing, weld blending, and surface prep will find this disc suited to consistent production use.
This disc is designed for use in metal fabrication, automotive bodywork, aerospace component finishing, and general industrial grinding and blending tasks. It performs across wet and dry setups, making it a practical choice for shops that run both water-cooled and dry grinder configurations. The P180 grit rating positions it in the fine finishing range, appropriate for surface refinement after coarser stock removal passes. The 2-inch diameter is compatible with right-angle grinders and finishing tools fitted with a matching Roloc-style quick-change attachment system.
Designed for use with right-angle grinders and rotary finishing tools equipped with a Roloc-style quick-change hub accepting 2-inch diameter discs.
Installation and disc changes should be performed with the grinder powered off and unplugged or locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout requirements. Inspect the disc for damage before mounting and confirm the tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum. Operators should wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling abrasive discs and operating grinding equipment. Wet-use setups should verify tool and attachment compatibility with water before beginning the operation.
