The 3M 7100014048 is a hook-and-loop abrasive disc roll designed for high-production sanding environments where consistent finish quality and rapid disc changes are required. Each roll contains multiple 5-inch diameter discs coated with silicon carbide abrasive at 80 grit. An anti-load coating combined with open-coat construction reduces clogging and extends disc life between changes. The Stikita pressure-sensitive adhesive backing allows fast attachment and clean removal from compatible backup pads, making it practical for multi-step finishing workflows. Licensed tradespeople and finishing technicians working in production cabinet shops, millwork facilities, and surface finishing operations are the primary users of this product.
This disc roll is suited for sanding white wood, sealer coats, solid surfaces, and other applications where a fine, consistent finish is critical. The 80-grit silicon carbide abrasive handles general-purpose material removal on wood, metal, plastic, drywall, fiberglass, glass, clear coat, and ceramic substrates. The lightweight A-weight paper backing flexes to conform to the backup pad, maintaining even abrasive contact across the work surface. This format is particularly efficient in production environments where downtime for disc changes must be minimized.
Designed for use with 5-inch vacuum-compatible backup pads that accept hook-and-loop or pressure-sensitive adhesive disc mounting in random orbital and rotary sanders.
Disc installation and removal should be performed with the sander powered off and unplugged. Align the disc flush to the backup pad before applying pressure to seat the adhesive. Inspect the backup pad surface for debris before attaching each new disc, as contamination can cause uneven adhesion and inconsistent finish results. Dispose of used abrasive discs in accordance with local regulations if used on materials that generate regulated dust, such as lead paint or certain composites.
