The 3M 7100009351 is a coated abrasive disc built for material removal and surface refinement in professional bodywork and metal finishing applications. The 255U disc uses a ceramic and aluminum oxide blend abrasive bonded with resin to an E-weight paper backing, delivering a consistent cut rate across a range of surface conditions. Open coat construction keeps the disc face clear of debris, reducing loading when working fresh body filler, putty, or paint. At 6 inches in diameter and 80 grit, this disc is suited for shaping filler, stripping paint down to bare metal, and refining scratches ahead of priming or topcoat work.
This disc is designed for use in automotive body and collision repair shops, metal fabrication environments, and professional finishing operations. The Hookit hook-and-loop attachment system allows fast disc swaps without tools, reducing downtime during production sanding. It is appropriate for use on plastic body filler, putty, bare metal panels, and painted surfaces where controlled material removal is needed. Some versions of the 255U series include a 7 or 8-hole pattern to improve dust evacuation when used with compatible vacuum-assisted sanders.
Designed for use with 6-inch Hookit hook-and-loop compatible random orbital and disc sanders used in automotive body repair and metal finishing.
Disc installation and removal requires no tools due to the hook-and-loop backing system. Confirm the sander backing pad is clean and free of debris before attaching to ensure full contact and secure hold. Power down and disconnect the sander from its air or electrical supply before changing discs. Follow applicable shop safety protocols including respiratory protection when sanding filler, paint, or bare metal.
