The 3M 7100009186 is a convolute deburring wheel designed for controlled, consistent material finishing on metal workpieces. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive at a fine grade and a density rating of 5, this wheel delivers repeatable deburring, blending, and light surface conditioning across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous applications. The convolute construction layers abrasive-impregnated nonwoven material around a fiber core, maintaining a consistent cut rate as the wheel wears. Rated to 6,000 RPM, it is suited for use on power-fed machine setups and handheld pneumatic tools. Licensed trades and industrial finishing technicians are the primary installers and operators.
This wheel is used in production and maintenance environments where edge finishing, burr removal, and surface blending are required. The 6-inch diameter and 1-inch face width make it a practical fit for backstands and inline applications. Compatible tooling includes centerless grinders, die grinders, inline sanders, manual backstands, and pressure assist backstands. Mandrel and adapter compatibility is listed for number 3 and number 5 mandrel sizes. It is appropriate for both light manufacturing shops and field maintenance applications where consistent finish quality matters.

Mount the wheel using the appropriate mandrel size before installing on the tool spindle. Verify that the tool RPM rating does not exceed the 6,000 RPM maximum marked on the wheel before operating. Power down and de-energize or disconnect the air supply to the tool completely before changing wheels. Inspect the wheel for damage or delamination before each use and do not operate a damaged wheel.
