The 3M 7100006734 is a foam-in-place fire block and draftstop sealant in a ready-to-use 12 fl oz aerosol can. It expands on application to seal penetrations, fill gaps, provide insulation, and bond substrates in non-rated residential and commercial construction. The formula meets ASTM E 84 (mod) Class 1 ratings for both smoke spread and flame development. It has been evaluated by the International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) and complies with the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) per ICC-ES report ESR-3165. Installers use it where a reliable, code-compliant fire block and air infiltration barrier is required at wall, floor, or ceiling penetrations.
This product is tested as a Type V commercial and residential fireblock for non-rated construction. It is suited for sealing around pipes, conduit, cables, and other penetrations that pass through framing members or wall assemblies in both residential and light commercial projects. The expanding foam fills irregular voids more thoroughly than traditional non-expanding materials, making it a practical choice for trade professionals working with mixed-material penetrations. Note: this product is not approved for use as a firestop in rated commercial construction assemblies.
Designed for use in non-rated residential and commercial construction assemblies where a foam-in-place fireblock and draftstop sealant is required at framing penetrations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed contractor familiar with applicable building codes, including IBC and IRC fireblocking requirements. Before applying, ensure the substrate area is clear of ignition sources and that any adjacent utilities are de-energized or shut off as required by the work scope. Apply foam into the penetration gap and allow it to fully expand and cure before closing or covering the assembly. Do not use this product as a firestop sealant in rated commercial fire-resistive assemblies.
