The 3M 7100006571 is a ceramic-abrasive quick-change disc designed for high-speed material removal in metal fabrication, weld blending, and surface preparation work. Part of the 3M 984F series, it features a very coarse 36-grit ceramic abrasive bonded to a polyester cloth backing. The disc attaches via the Roloc TR Type R system, which allows fast one-handed disc changes on compatible right-angle grinders and die grinders. Rated to 12,000 RPM, it is sized at 4 inches in diameter and is suited for demanding stock-removal applications where cut rate and disc longevity matter.
This disc is used in industrial, fabrication, and maintenance environments where aggressive grinding, deburring, or weld removal is required. The 984F series ceramic grain is self-sharpening, making it effective on stainless steel, carbon steel, and hard alloys. It is typically installed by machinists, metal fabricators, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working on structural components, pipe welds, and sheet metal assemblies. The polyester cloth backing provides flexibility and durability under lateral load during grinding passes.
Designed for use with Roloc TR Type R quick-change tool holders and backup pads rated for 4-inch discs at up to 12,000 RPM.
Installation is performed by aligning the disc button with a compatible Roloc TR backup pad and rotating to lock. Always verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 12,000 RPM disc rating before use. Disconnect air supply or unplug the grinder before changing discs. Wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA 1910.215 safety requirements for abrasive wheel use.
